CPSC Approves Final Rule on Civil Penalty Factors - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) voted to approve (4-1) a final rule interpreting factors to be considered when seeking a civil penalty amount for knowing violations of CPSC laws.

Infant Deaths Prompt CPSC Warning About Sling Carriers for Babies - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is advising parents and caregivers to be cautious when using infant slings for babies younger than four months of age. In researching incident reports from the past 20 years, CPSC identified and is investigating at least 14 deaths associated with sling-style infant carriers, including three in 2009. Twelve of the deaths involved babies younger than four months of age.
Mobile Power Packs Recalled By Tumi Due to Fire Hazard - The lithium-ion cells used in the Mobile Power Pack can ignite or explode while charging, posing a fire hazard. This hazard is only present for units that have not been charged.
