Hunting tree stands recalled due to fall hazard
January 29th, 2010 joshua
Summit Treestands LLC has been forced to recall about 6,800 hunting tree stands because they pose a fall hazard and risk of injury.
At least four people have fallen from trees while using the Talon Hunting Hang-On Tree Stands and Brackets/Straps. Several of those reports included broken bones.
According to a recall statement, the tree stand can unexpectedly detach from the tree when the brackets fails.
This recall involves Talon Raptor brackets/straps and Cabelas Realtree series hang-on tree stands with the Talon brackets/straps. A safety label sewn onto the bracket reads “Treestand Strap Assembly.” Tree stands involved in this recall have the following model numbers: rsEagle 82044, rsOsprey 82041, rsFalcon 82042, rsHawk 82043 and Cabelas Realtree Outfitters Series Hawk Deluxe 81509. Model information is printed on the tree stand warning label that is sewn onto the seat.
The treestands were available at hunting stores and catalogs nationwide from May 2009 until November 2009 for $25 for just the bracket, and $130 to $180 for the stand.
Hunters can contact Summit Treestands to receive a replacement bracket/strap.
