Arkansas woman files against Playtex for including BPA

Filed May 29th, 2008 joshua

An Arkansas woman has filed a lawsuit, seeking national class action status, against Playtex Products because the company used the dangerous chemical bisphenol A in its plastic baby bottles.

The lawsuit claims thousands of people who bought plastic bottles containing BPA and the company did not disclose the products contained the ingredient linked to behavioral issues in young children.

The chemical is included in plastics to make them more flexible and shatter-resistant. A recent report linked the chemical, however, to behavioral problems.

Since this report, several major plastic bottle makers and national retailers said they’d discontinue the production of BPA and from selling products containing it.

Playtex contends the chemical is safe.
