Ugly Teeth Halloween Favors Recalled by Factory Card & Party Outlet Due to Unsafe Lead Content
October 30th, 2007 amy
Parents worrying what kids might put in their mouths this Halloween might have a new concern. On Monday, Factory Card & Party Outlet Corp. announced a voluntary nationwide recall of approximately 2,500 “Ugly Teeth” Halloween party favors out of concern that the favors may contain unsafe levels of lead. JCS Hong Kong Limited, from which the product was purchased, initiated its own recall of the product earlier Monday.
The Ugly Teeth Halloween favor recall is based on test results shared with the company by an Ashland University chemistry professor. Neither the methodology nor the specific test findings have been shared at this time. The company insists the voluntary Ugly Teet Halloween favor recall is out of an abundance of caution. Such cautionary measures include removing the product from store shelves and website, placing in-store notices, removing the UPC from cash registers, and notifying the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The recalled Ugly Teeth Halloween favors were sold to other outlets, as well as Factory Card, so parents should be on the lookout for these Ugly Halloween treats turned trick. Anyone who has purchased the Teeth is urged to return them to any Factory Card & Party Outlet for a full refund.
Further information about the recall is available at http://www.factorycard.com, or by calling the company’s consumer services hotline at 888-840-8066.
